The 10 Minute Move

Today I moved. The actual move consisted of putting the clothes laid out on the floor back into my backpack, putting my sleeping bag in its sack, bagging my groceries and toiletries, and carrying my laptop, pillow, hiking boots, camera and field sack with me. It took less than half an hour.

It goes without saying I do not own a hair dryer, iron, and do not have with me a coat or fancy clothes.

I feel simple, and quite frankly, I like it that way.

We've been madly driving around checking on nests between the storms. Many of the nests are empty, depredated, or severely reduced in number of offspring. At our Baltimore site, one nest that had four eggs is now down to just one nestling.
